Taste experience
The Guatemala - Lampocoy coffee offers a complex variety of aromas with notes of dark chocolate, pecan and caramel. The coffee has a full body that carries the aromas harmoniously, while a very fine but present acidity rounds off the taste experience. The sweetness of the caramel is perfectly complemented by the bitter dark chocolate and the nutty note of the pecan nuts, making the coffee a real treat.
Origin & cultivation
The Lampocoy coffee project was launched in 2011 by Milvia Pineda and Dethlev Cordts. The project aims to offer small farmers in eastern Guatemala a better livelihood by using organic farming methods and sourcing coffee directly from the farmers - without middlemen.
-
Region: The small village of Lampocoy is located in the Nuevo Oriente area of eastern Guatemala, a region known for its intensive coffee cultivation. With an annual rainfall of over 2,000 mm and mild temperatures between 18 and 25 degrees, the soil and climatic conditions are ideal for growing high-quality coffee.
-
Cultivation: Coffee is grown at the highest altitudes between 1,200 and 2,000 meters above sea level, with particular attention paid to organic cultivation methods. The coffee farmers work without the use of pesticides and only harvest the fully ripe coffee cherries. These are then washed and carefully processed.
Processing
The washed coffee is extracted from the coffee cherries in a complex process in which the pulp is removed and the beans ferment in clear water before being dried. This method ensures a particularly clear and expressive taste. The beans are further processed, shelled, sieved, sorted and packaged in Guatemala City to ensure consistently high quality.
Social responsibility & fair trade:
The Lampocoy coffee project is committed to fair trade and social responsibility. The farmers receive at least 15% more than the world market price for their coffee, which enables them to earn a better income and thus live in dignity. The project supports the small farmers and their families directly, without the high costs of certifications that would reduce the farmers' income. This allows the focus to be entirely on the quality of the coffee and the sustainability of the project.
Roasting
The coffee is freshly roasted using a gentle , long-term roasting process in which a secret roasting profile is used to make the coffee particularly low in acidity and to bring out the natural aromas to the full. This refinement ensures a highly aromatic coffee that reveals its complexity and balance in every cup.
Packaging
The coffee beans are supplied in high-quality, resealable packaging with an aroma valve, which preserves the freshness of the coffee and ensures that the aromas are retained for a long time.
Preparation recommendations
Guatemala - Lampocoy coffee is versatile and is ideal for different preparation methods:
-
Filter coffee: a clear, aromatic coffee that perfectly highlights the delicately bitter and caramelized aromas.
-
Portafilter: Ideal for espresso, which combines the aromas of dark chocolate and pecan nuts in a full-bodied drink.
-
Plunger pot (French press): For a full-bodied, strong cup with a very big body and fine acidity.
-
Fully automatic machine & AeroPress: Both methods produce a balanced and aromatic coffee that brings out the diverse aromas and fine acidity.
The Guatemala - Lampocoy coffee combines high-quality Arabica coffee with a social mission. The coffee impresses with notes of dark chocolate, pecan nuts and caramel, a fine acidity and a full body. Thanks to the fair trade system and the organic cultivation method, you not only get a coffee with an outstanding taste, but also support sustainable and socially responsible agriculture. Ideal for anyone who wants to enjoy high-quality coffee and make a positive impact on the region at the same time.
