Babossa "carbon steel" Santoku knife
A masterpiece of a knife!
With 62 degrees Rockwell, the carbon steel is one of the best of its kind!
The high-quality processing of the steel, the precisely selected blade thickness and a hand-finished fine grinding of the cutting edge make this knife razor sharp!
Thanks to the outstanding hardness of the special knife steel, this knife stays sharp for longer than almost any other!
The finely crafted handle made of dark red pine heartwood and a ferrule made of genuine and sustainable buffalo horn make this knife incomparably unique. The rustic finish with hammer strokes in the blade, etched steel and yet finely polished edge make this knife a real eye-catcher!
The naturalness of the handle materials makes each knife unique. Fine inclusions and colorations of the buffalo horn, as well as fine grains of the wood give each knife an inimitable character.
The knife is convincing all along the line!
Matching the red wooden handle, this knife is supplied in fiery red decorative packaging with a slightly rustic look and elegant lettering. As well as being sustainable, the packaging also serves to store the knife safely and stylishly.
The long-lasting and brutal sharpness of the knife is due to the extremely high carbon content of the knife. For comparison: the famous Solingen knife steel "440B" has 0.5% carbon. This makes it nowhere near as hard and durable as this special carbon steel with twice the carbon content (1%). The disadvantage of such a high carbon content is that the blade corrodes more quickly and breaks more quickly if dropped BUT by using a 3-layer steel we have utilized a technique known as Damascus steel. By combining several types of steel, we obtain an optimized steel for all important factors!
The blade itself has an outstanding 1% carbon content, making it extremely sharp, extremely hard and extremely durable!
To prevent the blade from breaking, however, it is coated with a fine steel that is very flexible and thus protects the steel-hard blade from breaking. In addition, the rustic blade surface has been etched! As a result, there is already a patina on the knife, which protects the steel against corrosion. We were therefore able to combine the positive aspects of the blade steel with the positive aspects of other types of steel and eliminate all negative aspects through an etching process. Through all these processes we have created a perfect knife!
Attention:
We repeatedly receive reports that people cut their fingers, especially when using the knife for the first time. Our knives are razor-sharp on delivery! This is not just an advertising slogan! Be careful right from the start and don't touch the blade directly! This is a high-quality kitchen tool. If you want to test the sharpness, take a sheet of paper. Hold it slightly taut in front of you and pull the knife (do not press) through the sheet. You will immediately feel what we are talking about.
