[Vyrtse] - African pearl salt
Origin
Our salt is created on the coast of Namibia, on the edge of the oldest desert in the world - the Namib - from the purest deep waters of the Antarctic and the African sun.
The interplay of constantly strong south-westerly winds, the sun and the gentle wave action of the Atlantic Ocean creates an extremely rare and very special natural form of salt - the Namib salt pearl.
The Namib covers the entire 1600 km long coastline of Namibia and is the only one in the world to be completely protected. Cold South Atlantic winds and fog prevail for up to 200 days a year - but there is hardly ever any rain. The often heavy fog gives the northern Namib its mystical name - the "Skeleton Coast".
Our salts are created here on this surreal border between the dunes and the sea.
Use
The round shape of African pearl salt makes it perfect for the spice mill as a nice alternative to ordinary coarse sea salt. It is a visual extra and is not very common in our country, so you will have a rare eye-catcher on your table with our African pearl salt.
Like all our mill salts, African pearl salt can also be flavored with coarse herbs, dried chilli or other suitable spices in the mill.
Flavor
African pearl salt has a particularly mild, yet salty flavor that rounds off and seasons many different dishes.
