Vyrtse-Bhutan pepper
Origin
Bhutan, a country characterized by the Himalayas in the high regions of South Asia, has enshrined environmental protection in its constitution. All economic activities must be subordinated to the protection and preservation of nature. As a result, the country has a unique natural wealth and an incredible diversity of species. In addition to rare animals, wild herbs and spices can also be found.
Over 2/3 of the country is forest, there is practically no industry and very little land is used for agriculture.
Due to the enormous differences in altitude, 80% of the country lies in regions over 2000 meters above sea level, the climatic conditions vary greatly. Regions in the lowlands have a tropical climate, while in other areas there is permafrost with very harsh winters.
In the west of the country, local farmers collect the rare Bhutanese lemon pepper, a wild subspecies of the Szechuan pepper with much smaller seed pods.
Use
Use Bhutan lemon pepper very sparingly due to its high intensity. The pepper goes well with Asian dishes, poultry, fish and seafood. The spice enriches marinades and sauces with completely new flavor nuances.
The lemon pepper adds a fresh note to seasoning mixtures, while desserts with chocolate are given an absolute aha effect.
Flavor
This lemon pepper lives up to its name. The intense, fresh aroma of the pepper is beguiling. When tasting it, a tingling sensation is immediately noticeable, followed by a slight numbness on the tongue and throughout the mouth.
A mild spiciness combined with intense aromas of lemon and grapefruit make for a unique taste experience.
Not to be confused with lemon pepper, where black pepper is refined with lemon zest. Bhutan pepper is NOT a spice blend, but a special type of plant.
Goes well with
Poultry, fish and seafood as well as sauces and marinades
