The Thar Desert stretches along the Indian-Pakistani border from the Arabian Sea to the Punjab Mountains. This region was once completely covered by oceans.

As a remnant of a bygone era, mineral-rich natural salt deposits can be found in the region. In addition, brine-rich veins of water run beneath the Thar Desert, which are fed directly by the Arabian Sea. In some places, the saline water rises to the surface and forms salty lakes. In the dry and sunny summer months with temperatures of up to 50 degrees, most of these saline lakes evaporate, leaving behind naturally crystallized salt deposits. Only a few nomadic cattle breeders live in this barren and industry-free region. Accordingly, the salt extracted here is untouched by the impurities of our civilization. The carefully mined salt is only sieved and packaged in a modern salt works, and the complete mineral diversity is completely preserved.

The creamy-grey natural salt has a strong, slightly bitter salt taste. As a universal kitchen salt, it is suitable for seasoning all types of food and dishes.
